Some of these goals are pretty vague, so I really need to work on defining them.
Improve violin.
I've played the violin for a few years now, but I've never made great progress due to an irregular practice and lesson schedule. The goals here are pretty simple:
- Set up and stick to a practice schedule. (Even a little bit is better than nothing.)
- Choose a somewhat difficult piece as a goal piece.
- Stick to a regular lesson schedule. No missing lessons for me and if my teacher tries to cancel lessons frequently, look for other options.
- Look into buying a new bow.
Some story as the violin; therefore, mostly the same goals.

I took voice lessons a while back, but the professor was a bit difficult. He was great, but he was also the one who worked with the best choral group at my college and so demanding that even music majors tried to avoid him. Unfortunately, I got pushed out when they needed spots for voice majors. I'd really love to have more confidence with my singing.
- Look into voice options (preferably around the university).
- Contact teachers.
- Decide when I want to start.
Take guitar lessons
It's a cool instrument and I've wanted to learn for a while (especially since I heard Leslie King's version of "You Shook Me All Night Long").
- Research guitars.
- Buy a guitar.
- Look into lessons.
- Choose instructor.
I started lessons on it a while back and quit. I'm not sure if I want to restart lessons or just work on my own for a while. I think I'll determine that as I get a little farther into it.
- Get cello out.
- Find books.
- Play a minimum of once a week.
This fits a bit into improving the violin. I plan to try to play the violin at a family reunion when the family sings hymns. It would mean a lot to my mother, I think.

- Ask uncle what hymns will probably be used.
- Practice with him a few times.
Stop snacking at night.
This was a big one when I talked to the nutritionist. She wanted me to stop eating for four hours before I went to bed. Since this one is sort of vague, I think I'll qualify it was "Don't eat within four hours of going to bed for a month." Repeat yearly.
- Set a bedtime.
- Make meals more regular.
Get a complete physical.
I'm way overdue for that and I'll need one if I switch insurance.
- Call doctor's office and schedule physical in summer of 2009.
Track eating for a month every year.
This is a great habit and something I need to work on.
- Look at forms given to my by nutritionist.
- Start filling them in regularly.
- Have Nancy look over them.
I always mean to do this, but I forget.
- Buy vitamins. (Research best brands and possibly talk to nutritionist.)
- Get rid of all expired vitamins.
- Choose time to take them.
- Create a checklist.
This is very important, but I think a lot of this will come as a result of other goals, so I'm not going to really belabor this one. I do need to start getting my body fat checked regularly.
- Check bodyfat regularly.
- Keep running record.
